The women, aged between 18 and 25 years, were returning home after taking part in a Tiranga Yatra from Bahu Fort to Mubarak Mandi when the accident occurred.
The injured were shifted to Government Medical College Hospital, Jammu, for treatment.
The women were associated with the ‘Nari Veerangana’ project, an initiative of some BJP-affiliated NGOs aimed at empowering women and encouraging participation in social activities rooted in traditional and cultural values.
Senior BJP leader and MLA Yudhvir Sethi, who visited the hospital along with other party leaders, said the participants had undergone nearly three months of training before attending the concluding programme at Mubarak Mandi.
He said the group had dinner after the programme and left for their respective destinations when the mini-bus overturned.
Sethi said most of the injured women were in stable condition and were likely to be discharged by Monday morning. Two of them, however, had sustained injuries requiring further medical attention, he said, adding that there was no immediate indication of any life-threatening condition.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed deep anguish over the accident and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
The Chief Minister’s Office said the injured were promptly provided medical attention and were reported to be out of danger.
“The Chief Minister wished them a speedy recovery and directed the concerned authorities to ensure all necessary medical care and assistance,” his office said in a post on X.
